Racism? Don't worry, it is alive and well!
As I was listening to a news report on the Democrat Primary in the state of South Carolina, a black woman was asked about whom she was supporting. "Obama!", she replied. "I am voting for him because he is the first viable black presidential candidate". This wasn't in a small college newspaper, nor some obscure activist group, not even some relatively unknown blog. No, it was broadcast proudly via national news radio.
In today's politics, where it is touted that "racism" is the worst problem this nation faces, there was no "dropped jaw" reaction to this comment. Not a peep from the press, not a peep from Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton or any national news media. How shocking, just days after we had a holiday honoring Martin Luther King, Jr.
"I look to a day when people will not be judged by the color of their skin, but by the content of their character." Lady, Dr. King would be so proud of you. America, the Reverend would be giving Lady Liberty a high five! Let's proudly proclaim, for all to hear, from sea to shining sea: Vote for Obama! Not because his ideas make sense, not that he has a proven track record of leadership, not because he is the best person for the job. No, vote for him because of the color of his skin, not the content of his character.
Hallelujah, Long live racism! Now let us bow our heads and pay our respects to Reverend Martin Luther King. America, pat yourself on the back for promoting the political correctness that allows us the freedom for racism to thrive. I am going to scurry down to the local sign shop to make up a bumper sticker: "Vote for whitey!" Voting based upon skin color is the American thing to do now, Right?
